Preface for Proceedings of International Workshop on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology 2009 (IWAMN 2009)

The first International Workshop on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (IWAMN 2009) was successfully held from 24 to 25 November, 2009, at Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi). This workshop was co-organized by Subproject A of Teaching and Research Improvement Grants (TRIG) by VNU-Hanoi, Osaka University Global-COE Program “Core Research and Engineering of Advanced Materials-Interdisciplinary Education Center for Materials Science”, and The Surface Science Society of Japan.

Recent trends of materials science and nanotechnology have covered broad area of fields such as condensed matter physics, chemistry, biology, etc. The aim of the workshop is to share the latest information of these growing fields of science and technology. More than 100 participants attended the workshop. The workshop had 17 oral presentations by leading researchers and 73 poster presentations by excellent young scientists. The proceedings contain 31 selected papers.

The second workshop (IWAMN 2012) will be held on the 22nd of June in 2012 at Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam.
